Ouch! That's Gotta Hurt!
Finals Now In Doubt:

Southerners White def. Tigers Black 34-8:

Southerners White had only one thing in mind when they fronted NIST on Monday: to avenge their first round defeat inflicted by Tigers Black. And they succeeded somewhat excessively. This was a different team to that first game (seriously, we think they flew in some professionals, or at least subs from the A team) and they were too good for the Tigers Black, several of whom were a bit stiff from the weekend's midnight charity run. They beat us everywhere, except in our attack, where the ball never got to anyway; and the cheer squad calibre, but even Tigers President Rhino & International Captain Patto gave up in the last quarter to shoot hoops on the empty 3 rd court.

Always looking for the positive, Captain Puddles (that's Robson's new nickname, if you don't know the story make sure you ask her). You can rest assured it involves a drunken night, broken glass & a cross-dresser) noted our consistency: two goals in each quarter (consistently ordinary). Kath Pace lived up to her name by being so fast she was everywhere at once, Sarah was working hard again & Carlene risked a bruised 'asset' putting it all on the line. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly going to the pub after the game, where we all put in a stellar performance drinking beer. Um…anyone for training?

Southerners Black def. Tigers Gold : 32-11

This was a very tough game with Southerners in full force, too good for an under-manned Tigers Gold. We held our own in the first quarter with some fantastic defending by Roisin and Jenni (from Queen Vic who was standing in to help us). Vron was running all over the place making it very difficult for the Southerners to play their game. Toni (new recruit subbing from the Tigers Black) did a great job converting our chances.

Joey, standing in as captain for the absent Liv, was flying through the air to the extent that there were reports of varying reliability that you could see her knickers. She had a tough battle with Stanners (whose knickers were not visible) and was ably supported by Rachel who came in at half time to play in the wing positions.

Unfortunately the Southerners found their rhythm and we lost a bit of confidence. Nikki and Anna also had a solid performance on the wings, and a big congratulations goes to Nikki, who was awarded Player of the Match.

NEXT WEEK - No Games due to school break.
