Walshy grew up in Melbourne playing for the Tigers feeder club Swinburne University (who gave us Rainsy and Jazza), before playing in the Sydney Premier Division from 2007 to 2011 (another feeder club who delivered us the talented Hooey, and the man with the greatest glutes of all time, Brownlow). He arrives at the Tigers after a stint in the Big Apple, and in a somewhat disturbing revelation, likes to run marathons for fun. A very popular and respected bloke, Walshy can play as a running midfielder or forward, and his elite endurance, strong marking, and clever use of the ball, sees him often amoungst the goal kickers. He is a natural leader – honest, tough, outstanding skills under pressure. He has played under some high quality coaches and has solid foundations to lead the Tigers in 2016.
Yorky, although only a new comer to football making his debut at the ripe young age of 42, is an elite runner who hunts the ball down and delivers it with precision. Jason has been nothing short of fantastic in his approach and commitment to the club, and his desire to take the club forward combined with his natural leadership abilities will see him take on numerous roles with the club for next season.
Benny does not need any introduction. If you don’t know who he is then you need to stand in front of the mirror and take a long hard look at yourself, and ask yourself the question “Why don’t I know who Benny is?” Then sneak out for a beer at Clubhouse or Tenderloins and you will no doubt meet him. Ben is the glue of the club – ever friendly and supportive, and performing the challenging task of running the bench on match days. And despite being a die-hard Crows supporter, has been known to scream “Go Port” a lot lately!
